Message While I don't know if I'm dealing with a strange oiling problem as well, I know that there have been a few threads detailing problems with the 300zx ITM lifters.

One described a lifter being out of round, another where half the guy's lifters were improperly assembled.

I called up Nissan to ask about their OEM lifters. I believe they're either still made in Japan or go through much more rigorous quality control than the aftermarket lifters. The OEMs are also delivered submerged in oil. My ITMs were delivered in a plastic box- not submerged. I've heard that hydraulic lifters are built with very tight tolerances. In some cases only a few microns. Knowing this, I'm not sure I'd go with anything but OEM or a "premium" aftermarket brand in the future.
